The Bauchi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC),Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, has urged female Corps members to return home to their parents after completing their service.

Yakubu, made the call on Thursday in Bauchi during the distribution of National Service certificates to corps members.

While specifically addressing the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream 11 female corps members, she said, “Ladies, please remember that your boyfriends are not your parents.

“Do not say that after collecting your certificates, you are heading to your boyfriends’ houses,” she advised.

“Go back home to your parents and celebrate with them. You have just completed your national service, and this is a moment to share with your family.”

She also encouraged corps members to put their skills to good use, particularly those acquired through the NYSC’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

“Even if you haven’t learnt anything from the SAED programme, it’s not too late.

“Instead of going home to sit idle, find something to do to support your parents. Use this last allowance wisely; invest in learning a trade,” she said.

Yakubu further cautioned corps members against engaging in fraudulent activities such as internet fraud (Yahoo Yahoo), kidnapping, or ritual killings in pursuit of quick wealth.

“These are not the values NYSC has instilled in you. You have served to become responsible members of society,” she said.

“Represent your family well, be a good ambassador of Nigeria, your institution, and the NYSC.”

She also advised the corps members to carefully check their National Service certificates for errors before laminating them.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a total of 1,652 corps members passed out in Bauchi State, comprising 1,118 males and 534 females.(NAN)

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has disclosed why he promised to destroy the Obidient Movement of the Labour Party.

Omokri disclosed this in an interview with News Central, on Thursday, March 27, where he stated that his choice was motivated by his personal relationship with Peter Obi, whom he referred to as “his project.”

Omokri revealed that in the 2019 elections, he had first suggested Obi as a running mate to former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

But after he and his family were allegedly attacked by Obidient Movement members, his connection with the group deteriorated.

During the interview, he said: “I took a vow to destroy that movement because Peter Obi was a project of mine. I was responsible for Peter Obi becoming the running mate to Waziri Atiku Abubakar in 2019. I’ve said this publicly. I’ve got the documents. I’m a meticulous record keeper.

“Peter Obi’s movement, Obidients, started attacking me, threatening me, insulting me. That was OK. But then they moved from myself to my family. I just had a daughter at that time. There were multiple death threats.

“They came to my house in the United Kingdom. They trailed my wife and I when we were jogging. They found out my jogging route and pursued me, threatening me.”

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has distanced himself from series of AI-generated videos that have been circulating on social media.

These videos, which falsely advertise drugs and scholarships, have misled and deceived many viewers, claiming to be associated with the popular clergy.

In a statement on his Facebook page, on Wednesday, March 26, Adeboye clarified that he has no involvement with any such promotions and urged his followers to remain cautious of these fraudulent schemes designed to exploit their trust.

The statement reads: “I have been made aware of disturbing AI-generated videos circulating online, falsely advertising certain drugs and scholarships that are intended to deceive and mislead people.

“These videos are NOT from me, and I want to make it clear that I have no involvement in such promotions.I urge all of you, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, to be vigilant and not fall for these fraudulent schemes.

“They are designed to exploit your trust for selfish gain. Please do not share or engage with these posts.I encourage you to report these fake accounts and videos immediately on all social media platforms. Together, we can ensure that such deception does not spread further.

“These Malicious acts by ‘Africa Health Centre’ and ‘Church-Funded Scholarships’ is being dealt with already by the relevant authorities as we will not allow God’s name to be used in vain for such wickedness.

“Let us continue to stay in the truth, walk in love, and remain focused on the genuine work of the Kingdom.”

In a notable break from traditional sanctions, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has cursed those responsible for vandalizing transformers.

In a post shared on its official X handle, BEDC also directed its curse towards customers who engage in meter bypassing.

The post reads: “E no go beta for who dey vandalize transformer and who dey bypass.”

This sparked various reactions amongst netizens with some finding the new approach funny.

Deputy Senate Chief Whip Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, has dismissed the sexual harassment allegation by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

During an exclusive interview on News Central TV, Nwaebonyi criticised Akpoti-Uduaghan, asserting that she does not fit the criteria to be considered among Nigeria’s most beautiful women, implying that her allegations were unfounded.

Nwaebonyi further suggested that the suspended Senator has a history of using accusations as a strategy to manipulate situations to her benefit, a move he argued was aimed at garnering public sympathy or influencing political narratives.

The Deputy Chief Whip said: “She accused Reno Omokri of sexual harassment during the time of Goodluck Jonathan as president when the young man was already in U.S. attending to national issues.

“But, unlucky to her, she didn’t know that this young man was outside the country. Upon a slightest provocation, she will come up with allegation of sexual harassment.

“And I don’t know what is wrong with this lady. Does she think that she’s the most beautiful woman on earth? Or is it because she’s that chocolate colour?

“In my own assessment, she’s not among the beautiful women in Nigeria. And it is high time we came down hard on her.

“And why people like us are speaking on top of her voice is not just to protect and defend the senate president but to protect and defend her future victims.”

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday declared that he would ensure that former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, fails in his push for the presidency.

Speaking through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike said he has no regret that Atiku refused to pick him as his running mate during the build-up to the 2023 presidential election.

In an interview with Adesina Giwa-Osagie, Atiku said he had “no regrets” for ignoring Wike as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

Recall that the rift between Atiku and Wike dates back to the controversial PDP primaries of 2022.

Wike had expected to be compensated with the vice-presidential slot, but Atiku picked former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Addressing why he chose Okowa over Wike, Atiku stated that he deliberately left the decision to the PDP.

“They said I did not consult widely in 2019 when I picked Peter Obi as my running mate, so in 2023, I told the party to set up a committee to recommend three names,” Atiku said.

Atiku said the committee ranked Okowa as the top choice, with Wike in second place and former Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel in third.

“So I picked number one,” he said.

Responding, Olayinka said Wike has no regret over losing the slot to Okowa.

Posting on X, Olayinka wrote: “Two years after making the @OfficialPDPNig lose a presidential election it could have won, @atiku is giving reasons he did not pick @GovWike as his running mate and that he has no regrets.

“Someone should tell our serial presidential election contester that Wike also has no regret for ensuring that he failed in the election and will make sure that he fails again and again.”

A 25-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), has reportedly died of Lassa fever at a secondary health facility in ljebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to Daily Post report, the female corp member who fell sick while in Ondo State, was brought to the health facility last Tuesday and later died same day.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen and signed by the Commissioner for Health, Tomi Coker, on Wednesday.

Coker also confirmed the outbreak of Lassa fever in the state.

The statement reads, “Ogun State has confirmed a case of Lassa Fever and as such declared Lassa fever outbreak.

“The index case is a 25-year-old female National Youth Corp member who fell sick while in Ondo State and was brought to on of our secondary health facility in ljebu North LGA on 18th March 2025 and later died same day.

“ Lassa fever is a viral Haemorrhagic disease that presents with High grade fever, Headache, General body weakness, Sore throat, Muscle pain, Cough, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhoea, Chest pain and Unexplained bleeding from the ears, eyes, nose, mouth and other body openings.”

Coker urged members of the community to report to the hospital if any of the listed symptoms is noticed.

“We implore members of the community to promptly report to the hospital if they notice any of these symptoms. Any case of febrile illness that has not responded to 48 hours use of anti-malaria or antibiotics should raise an index of suspicion for Lassa fever!

“We implore all Health facilities in Ogun State, public and private, to step up Infection Prevention and Control measures and to encourage compliance by all health facility staff.

“ Healthcare worker that suspects Lassa fever in a patient, are advised to call their local government disease surveillance and notification officer (LGA DSNO) whose numbers are placed in our health facilities or call State Disease surveillance and Notification Officer (0703-421-4893) or State Epidemiologist (0808-425-0881),” she added.

The commissioner, however reiterated the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration’s dedication to protecting the health of the citizens through continuous surveillance and prompt response to infectious diseases.

She added that the ministry in collaboration with the Rapid Response Team at ljebu North East is keeping the situation under control with enhanced surveillance and community engagement and mobilization for effective response.

A 32-year -old man identified as Rayyanu has been found de@d inside a mosque after the early morning Subhi prayer in Paso community, Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.

Confirming the incident, a resident of Paso, Ibrahim Musa, said the incident happened on Tuesday around 5:56 am when the late Rayyanu came to the mosque to observe the Subhi prayers.

He said the deceased came to the mosque in a motorcycle and decided to have a nap after the prayers but died during the sleep.

“It was around 7:28 am when some people, who are in charge of cleaning the mosque, saw the man lying in the mosque. They tried to wake him for them to clean the mosque but was not responding.’’he said

He said the two men raised an alarm which attracted the attention of some Muslim elders in the area, who rushed to the mosque and took the victim to the hospital, where the doctor on duty confirmed him dead.

Musa said the deceased was later identified and handed over to his relatives for burial.

A heated exchange erupted during a recent hearing of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions on the fresh petition submitted by Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The confrontation saw the Senator representing Ebonyi North, Onyekachi Nwaebonyi and former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, trading verbal wars over Natasha’s allegations.

At the heated Senate committee hearing, Ezekwesili joined forces with Abiola Akiode, legal counsel for Akpoti-Uduaghan and petitioner Zubairu Yakubu.

The session took a dramatic turn when Yakubu attempted to interject while Senate Committee Chairman Neda Imaseun was speaking, only to be silenced and instructed to turn off his microphone.

The tension escalated when Ezekwesili sought to make a point but was abruptly cut off by Senator Nwaebonyi, a witness for Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In response, Ezekwesili sharply rebuked him, saying, “Compose yourself and stop making noise.”

The remark set off a fiery reaction from the senator, further fueling the heated exchange in the chamber.

Nwaebonyi retorted sharply, saying: “You’re a fool. What do you mean? Why are you talking to me like that? I will not take it. You’re an insult to womanhood. People like you cannot be here.”

Ezekwesili replied back, calling him a “hooligan,” further vexing the lawmaker.

Former Niger Delta freedom fighter, Asari Dokubo, has restated his allegiance to President Bola Tinubu as he gave reason, he cannot abandon him.

Dokubo who had been vocal in his agitation against the Tinubu-led administration held an unusual silence since the President’s declaration of state of emergency in Rivers.

He would, however, make a sudden U-turn on Tuesday as he admitted cannot part ways with the President who he described as his friend,

Speaking in a now viral video on social media, Dokubo recounted how Tinubu stood by him during his darkest days.

Dokubo maintained he renewed his support for the President, stressing that he can never forget what he did to him no matter what happens.

“When you have a friend, it will be difficult for you to part with your friend because you have to look back at yesterday.

“The memories of yesterday will keep on playing up in your head. I am fixed on a spot because in my darkest of time, Ahmed Bola Tinubu stood with me.

“He stood by me. I can’t forget it so easily no matter what happens.” He said.

In an interview last year October, the Ijaw activist recounted how Tinubu protected him from the fury of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He held that his relationship with Tinubu dated back to Nigeria’s military era and was built on loyalty and trust.

“My relationship with Tinubu is that when I was buried alive by his fellow kinsman, Obasanjo, Tinubu- against all odds-came and stood by me, took care of my family, took care of me, send money to me.

“When I came, sent me on a medical trip, bought me my first car when I came out of prison. I can’t leave such a person.” Dokubo had said in the interview.
