Govt issues 48-hour eviction notice to traders

The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has issued a 48-hour eviction notice to traders selling and residing on the median from Ebute-Ero-Iga Idungaran to Oja Oba in Lagos Island.

According to the Commissioner for the environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the directive is a part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s efforts in maintaining environmental cleanliness, restore order, and enhance the safety of lives and property across the state.

The government has however reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards environmental violations.

This was disclosed via a post on the commissioners X handle on Saturday, March 15.

The statement reads: ” The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has served a 48hours vacation notice to traders selling and sleeping on median from Ebute- Ero-Iga Idungaran to Oja Oba in Lagos Island.

“This is in line with the #jidesanwoolu led administration’s commitment to ensuring cleanliness and sanity in our environments, and also security of life and properties of all Lagosians.”
