Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to be overconfident about winning the 2027 presidential election, despite endorsements from 22 All Progressives Congress (APC) governors.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the seasoned lawmaker, who has spent nearly two decades in the National Assembly, said such political endorsements don’t always guarantee election victory.

He referenced the 2015 election, where former President Goodluck Jonathan lost to Muhammadu Buhari despite being endorsed by 22 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors.

“Jonathan had 22 governors then endorsing him like was done now. And what happened? Jonathan lost woefully. A lot of money was spent. Even the election was shifted but we are not learning our lessons. I pity Mr President,” Ndume said.

Ndume, a senior member of the APC, revealed that he does not support the recent endorsement of Tinubu, citing Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions, rising cost of living, and increasing insecurity.

He added that many Nigerians are losing hope in Tinubu’s so-called “Renewed Hope” administration.

“Nigerians cannot see any hope, they are doubting the Renewed Hope,” he said.

The senator also shared that he walked out of the Banquet Hall at the Presidential Villa during the endorsement announcement.

According to him, he had attended a summit but left after realizing that it had turned into a political endorsement event.

“I was there but that was not why I was there; I was there for a summit, and when I realised that it was not a summit and voice vote was put about the endorsement of Mr President, I just left, and that does not mean I am not an APC member. The majority had its way but few of us felt that was not right,” Ndume explained.

“It happened before, not once, not twice. It happened during Jonathan. That does not mean anything. Politicians are decamping but the people who are the voters are not decamping,”

He warned the APC and President Tinubu not to confuse political endorsements with support from Nigerians.

The endorsement by 22 APC governors, which took place on May 22, 2025, positioned Tinubu as the party’s preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential race.

The founder and President of Abel Damina Ministries International (ADMI), Dr. Abel Damina, has sparked controversy following a statement during a recent sermon, in which he claimed that offerings given in church do not go to heaven.

In a now-viral video clip, Damina asserted that contrary to what many preachers teach, offerings are spent by men on earth and does not go to heaven.

He said: “No offering goes to heaven; men spend it every time we gather offerings in this church. All the offerings we give to God go to men.

“Even those tithe mongers that say when you pay tithe, the doors of heaven will open, the doors have been opened since Jesus rose from the dead, the doors have never been closed. They are just working on people’s minds.

“I heard some of them saying I am evil because I said you should not pay tithe, and someone said ‘he and his children would pay tithe’. He has to talk like that to keep collecting from people. If he doesn’t talk like that people will stop giving him.

“And I won’t be surprised if he is not paying tithes to anybody. Most are greedy; they collect from everybody but don’t pay anybody. I was there. There is nothing you will tell me that I don’t know because there is nothing new under the sun.”

Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide popularly known as Winners Chapel, David Oyedepo, has recounted how he vowed to build 1,000 churches for God.

According to him, he had told God he wouldn’t like to go to heaven without building a thousand churches on earth in Jesus’ name.

Oyedepo was seen saying this while addressing his congregation in a recent sermon.

He said: “Some may even have buses that are doing nothing on Sunday, but they won’t bring them out. Because, ah, N2,000 per half liter. If it’s in your heart, go put it in your heart.

“Before I had the first bank account, I said, Jesus, if you ever bless me, I want to be part of building new churches. How many have heard that before? You have always heard everything. I told Jesus, I don’t want to come to heaven without a thousand churches built in your name.

“Over to you, you better wake up. Can I tell you something? Everybody’s a reflection of where he belongs. It’s time you start reflecting what happens in here.”

Multiple former commanders of the Boko Haram terrorist group, who surrendered under a government amnesty initiative, have revealed that a growing number of ex-fighters are returning to the trenches.

These ex-commanders, drawn from over 30,000 fighters who defected, were profiled by the Nigerian military and engaged as hybrids

One former commander, who once served under Abubakar Shekau, disclosed that the group’s leadership had genuinely embraced the opportunity to surrender and reintegrate into society.

However, the government allegedly failed to honour key commitments, such as the provision of decent housing, skills acquisition training and economic reintegration programs.

Instead, according to him, each surrendering fighter received only ₦100,000 cash and then was left to fend for themselves.

“We laid down our arms, submitted ourselves, brought out others from Sambisa. But now we live in hardship — many have returned to Sambisa,” he told the ICIR.

One of his wives, he added, had even run back to the forest due to extreme poverty.

Another ex-commander from the ISWAP faction echoed similar regrets, stating, “We farmed, we had livestock, and some of us even had thriving businesses that took us to countries like Dubai.”

He warned that unless the government takes urgent action, more defectors may rejoin terrorist ranks.

The revelations suggest that the federal government’s deradicalization and reintegration program may be failing, threatening to undo years of military and diplomatic gains in the fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP.

The former insurgents say they do not seek luxury, but simply want the promised support: shelter, skills, and means to rebuild their lives. Their appeal is for the Nigerian government to uphold its end of the deal — before it’s too late.

“The danger is that many of us who are still assisting the military may soon be left with no choice but to return — not because we want to fight, but because we cannot survive like this,” one warned.

Channels TV personality, Seun Okinbaloye has sent out a strong advice to President Bola Tinubu who has spent two years in office.

In his speech made last night, June 8, during his program, Seun stated that if President Tinubu must etch his name in gold, he must “ignore sycophants who clap in darkness while citizens cry in daylight.” He opined that the President needs to urgently surround himself with thinkers and not just loyalists.

In his words ‘’Two years are gone. Half of your constitutional mandate spent navigating the stormy waters of reforms, resistance and rising hardship. You came to office promising a renewed hope agenda, telling Nigerians that the pain will be temporary like that of a childbirth and that joy would follow but two years in, the cries have grown louder and many now wonder when would the joy come.

Inflation surged, food inflation went to an all-time high, transport costs were tripled, and the average Nigerian now spends more of their income just to eat, that is if they are lucky. Petrol is hovering over N700 per litre and electricity tariffs have risen even as supply is still very erratic and yet , the Nigerian people are resilient, loyal and have held on but holding on cannot be the national plan.

You promised to lift millions out of poverty, create thousands of digital jobs in 24 months and double power generation. This were not poetic aspirations. They were campaign commitments.

Mr President, time is not on your side. You have just 12 months before the political season begins to whisper again. If ever there was a time to show the fruits of sacrifice, it is now. You are the President of both your lovers and your loudest critics, The hopefuls who sang your name at the polls and the skeptics who prayed you will fail. Leadership demands maturity of mind, empathy of heart. You now preside over a fractured but hopeful nation, Good people, bad politics and an ugly economy. Nigeria today is at a historic reflection point.

Mismanage this opportunity, Sir, and we risk descending into a cycle of unrest, disillusionment and regret. But if you rise to the moment and you could become a defining leader, one whose name is etched in gold, as a man who brought Nigeria back from the brink, you must ignore sycophants who clap in darkness while citizens cry in daylight.

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), has said that the Nigerian Civil War, also known as the Biafran War, was not a personal decision, but a painful necessity taken in the interest of preserving the country’s unity.

Gowon made the statement on Saturday, June 7, 2025, during the 5th Convention of the Christian Men’s Fellowship of the Abuja Anglican Diocese, where he was honoured with a Lifetime Integrity and Achievement Award.

Describing the war as the most difficult chapter of his life, the 89-year-old elder statesman said he had no choice but to lead Nigeria through the bloody conflict, which lasted from July 6, 1967, to January 15, 1970.

“I always remember the civil war. It was the most difficult period of my life. It was not my choice, but I had to be there, and had to do what I did in order to keep this country together. It was never a hatred against any people, I can assure you,” Gowon stated.

The former military ruler emphasised that the war effort was rooted in a duty to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and not driven by personal animosity toward the secessionist Eastern region.

Reflecting on his years in leadership, Gowon stressed that his decisions were grounded in prayer, integrity, and a deep desire to act in the nation’s best interest.

“Everything I do is through prayers. I ask God to help me do the right thing, the way He thinks it should be done, with love and respect for all the people,” he said.

He also reiterated the famous post-war message of reconciliation, noting:

“That is why, at the end, what do we have to say? As they say: no victor, no vanquished.”

Since leaving office in 1975, Gowon has continued to advocate for peace and national unity. His latest remarks come amid ongoing conversations around Biafra remembrance and calls for deeper healing across ethnic and regional lines in Nigeria.

The Kwara State Fire Service on Saturday recovered the lifeless body of a 43-year-old man who jumped into a well in the Edun area of Ilorin West Local Government Area, following Sallah celebrations.

The deceased, identified simply as Kareem, was said to be under the influence of a hard drug, Synthetic Cannabinoids locally known as ‘Colorado’.

Kareem jumped into the well at Ile Alapo, Edun, shortly after returning from the Eid-el-Kabir prayers on Friday.

In a statement issued on Saturday, by Head of Media and Publicity for the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed the recovery of the body.

According to the statement, “The distress call was received by the Fire Service control room at about 10:29 hours, reporting that a man had fallen into a well,” adding that firefighters were swiftly deployed to the scene, where they successfully retrieved the body.

“The victim, identified as Kazeem, reportedly jumped into the well under the influence of a hard substance known as Colo (Colorado) shortly after returning from Eid prayers.

“The body was handed over to Inspector Babatunde Amos of the C Division Police Station, Ilorin.

“The Ministry awaits formal identification and claim of the body by the victim’s family.”

Efforts to contact the spokesperson of Kwara Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi was proved abortive, as she did not respond to calls or messages sent to her WhatsApp number as at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Falade Olumuyiwa, expressed sadness over the tragic incident.

A 68-year-old American woman has shared how she ended up marrying a 25-year-old Nigerian man after he liked one of her posts on Facebook.

The story was shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by user @Hybrid\_Ola, who noted that there is a 43-year age difference between the couple.

In the post, the Nigerian man stated: “I’m 25, I’m married to a woman who is 43 years older than me. We met on Facebook.”

The woman also recounted how their love story began. According to her, after he liked one of her Facebook posts, they became best friends. Over time, their bond grew stronger.

She explained that she had a dream that made her want to visit Nigeria. After traveling to Nigeria and checking into a hotel, the man proposed to her just three days later.

In her words: “He liked something I posted. He went from somebody that liked my post to my very best friend. It just kept getting stronger. I woke up one day wanting to go to Nigeria. I woke up from a dream and all I wanted was to go to Nigeria. Got a hotel room—three days later, he proposed to me.”

Kidnappers who abducted a Chinese expatriate, Mr. Sam Xie Wie, and his Nigerian colleague, Mr. David Adenaiye, during an attack on a mining site in Kwara State have demanded a ransom of ₦1 billion for their release.

The demand was revealed in a post on Friday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama on his verified X account.

According to the post, the abductors used the victims’ mobile phones to contact an associate identified as Mr. Leo Liang, demanding the huge sum for their freedom.

The victims were kidnapped on Wednesday during a violent raid on a mining site.

The attack also led to the death of two personnel of the Police Mobile Force who were assigned to protect the expatriates.

Makama noted that security operatives and local vigilante groups have launched a search operation in an effort to rescue the abducted men unharmed.
