A serving Corp member in Lagos State has cried out over a threat she received from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) board following her recent social media post in which she expressed her displeasure about the rising costs of commodities in the country.

According to the video shared on TikTok via the handle @talktoraye, the serving Corp member, in tears, explained how frustrated she is over the high cost of goods in the market, calling President Ahmed Tinubu’s government a “terrible” one for paying little attention to the hike in commodity prices.

In the video, she said: “If a lot of Nigerians come out and start speaking about what we are going through, maybe changes will be made in the government. I just want to say to our president, I don’t know if there is any other president that is as terrible as you, but you are such a terrible president.”

According to vanguard report, the serving corp member, in tears, further explained how the NYSC scheme has been less beneficial to her, having had to spend more than the allowance she receives

“So, I am coming from a supermarket where I went to get foodstuff, and everything has gone up again. It’s just like every single week, prices keep increasing. I want to know, what is the government doing about this increase? Is there going to be a particular time when prices will stop going up? Why am I going to get a crate of eggs and I’m told it costs N6,500? It doesn’t make any sense that eggs would cost that much. I literally remember when eggs cost N800. I am so overwhelmed because this is the first time I’ve stayed out of my family house.

“After I left the supermarket, I got home, and the security and NEPA bills have skyrocketed, doubling in price. It is insane. I can’t keep up with these bills. Every single penny I make, I am using it to pay bills. The crazy thing is, you want to go out with your friend, and Uber is N25,000. Why are things so expensive?

“To make it worse, Lagos stinks. Everywhere smells. What is the government doing about the smell? Being an NYSC Corper, there is nothing so beneficial about this scheme. The money I spend on transportation is much more than the allowance the federal government pays us. We should start calling out the government. For example, Tinubu, you are a terrible person. What are you doing to help our economy?”

Barely 24 hours after releasing the video calling President Tinubu “terrible,” she posted another video in which she was receiving calls from an NYSC official. The official in the video was heard asking the Corp member, “Are you normal?” The voice continued, “Keep quiet and bring down the video you posted,” she said.

The Corps member further explained that she has been receiving calls from various NYSC officials telling her to stop insulting the government and remove the video.

 

President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi, has spoken out in defense of the family, claiming that certain individuals have been persistently targeting his father and the family.

 

During a meeting with a group of youths in Yola, Seyi passionately praised his father, calling him the greatest President in Nigeria’s history despite the ongoing criticism and challenges they face.

 

Since the beginning of the year, Seyi has been on a tour of northern and southern states, engaging with Governors and key political figures along the way.

 

Amid ongoing attacks on the family, Seyi emphasised that his father remains steadfast in his dedication to improving Nigeria, undeterred by the relentless criticism.

 

Speaking in Yola, Seyi said: “It was never politics but they keep coming for me, they keep coming for my family, they keep coming for your father, they keep coming for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the greatest president in the history of Nigeria.

 

“He is the only president that has kept your people at home, the only President that considers youths, the only president that created a platform for young people to fly.

 

“The only President that created an economy that has benefitted everybody, the only president that is not trying to enrich his pocket.”

 

 

 

The Presidency has stated that President Bola Tinubu is not currently focused on the 2027 election but is instead prioritizing economic policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, emphasized that the president is more concerned with the long-term impact of his policies than with political maneuvering ahead of the next election. In a Friday night post on his X page, wrote;

“President Tinubu is not worried about the next election. He’s worried about the shared prosperity that he can bring to Nigerians,” Dare wrote. “He’s worried about how the reforms he has put in place will yield the necessary impact. He is concerned about what happens to the economy of this country eventually. That’s the focus.”

The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has issued a 48-hour eviction notice to traders selling and residing on the median from Ebute-Ero-Iga Idungaran to Oja Oba in Lagos Island.

According to the Commissioner for the environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the directive is a part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s efforts in maintaining environmental cleanliness, restore order, and enhance the safety of lives and property across the state.

The government has however reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards environmental violations.

This was disclosed via a post on the commissioners X handle on Saturday, March 15.

The statement reads: ” The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has served a 48hours vacation notice to traders selling and sleeping on median from Ebute- Ero-Iga Idungaran to Oja Oba in Lagos Island.

“This is in line with the #jidesanwoolu led administration’s commitment to ensuring cleanliness and sanity in our environments, and also security of life and properties of all Lagosians.”

The Donald Trump administration is reportedly considering sweeping travel restrictions for citizens of 43 countries as part of a new ban, continuing an immigration crackdown that the US President initiated at the start of his second term in January.

The New York Times reported that an internal memo divides these countries into three separate categories.

The first group (called ‘red list’) includes 11 countries: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. Their citizens are proposed to be ‘flatly barred’ from travelling to the United States.

The second group (‘orange list’) comprises 10 nations, for which travel would be restricted but not cut off. In their case, affluent business travellers could be allowed to enter the US, but not those on immigrant or tourist visas. This group includes Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Turkmenistan.

The third category (yellow list), is the largest of the three with 22 countries, and would have 60 days to clear up perceived deficiencies, with the threat of being moved onto one of the other groups if they did not comply.

It includes Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Congo, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, São Tomé and Príncipe, Vanuatu and Zimbabwe.

A US official who spoke on the condition of anonymity cautioned there could be changes on the list, and it was yet to be approved by the Trump administration, including Marco Rubio, the secretary of state.

Two young men lost their lives in a tragic incident when a stray cow ran out of the bush and struck them along the Ile-Oluji-Ondo Itanla road in Ondo State.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, when the victims were travelling on a motorcycle, popularly known as a “Lady’s Bike,” while transporting a bag of cocoa from Ile-Oluji to Ondo City.

An eyewitness who spoke to Ondo State Government-owned publication, Hope Newspaper, said that the cow suddenly bolted out of the bush, colliding with the motorcycle, k!lling the men on the spot.

According to the source, the herder, said to be a Fulani man, fled into the bush alongside his cattle immediately after the tragic event.

It was gathered that passersby hesitated to intervene, fearing possible implications from authorities.

The identities of the deceased victims had yet to be confirmed.

 

The Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Owerri, Imo State, has suspended Mr. Okoroafor Ifeanyichukwu, a facilitator at the institution, following a disturbing incident captured in a viral video.

The video, which surfaced on social media, shows Mr. Ifeanyichukwu physically assaulting a male student.

In a formal notice dated March 14, 2025, and referenced FPN/TEDC/80/1, the Polytechnic’s administration announced the suspension of the facilitator.

The letter revealed that Mr. Ifeanyichukwu’s suspension will remain in effect pending the results of an ongoing investigation into the event, which occurred on March 13, 2025, during an entrepreneurship training session at the Technical and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (TEDC).

The suspension notice was signed by Dr. Okoye P.C., Director of TEDC, and was distributed to key members of the institution’s leadership, including the Rector, the Dean of Student Affairs, and the Student Union Government.

The letter stated: “You are hereby suspended from duty as a facilitator in the Technical and Entrepreneurship Development Centre pending the outcome of investigation into the incident that occurred yesterday 13th March, 2025 at the site of your entrepreneurship training.”

A video which went viral late Thursday captured the now-suspended facilitator slapping a male student, Chidera, and then kicking him, causing him to fall heavily on a cemented walkway, before he (the lecturer) then walked away.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria has expressed serious concerns over a growing wave of misinformation and misleading reports about alleged targeted killings of Christians in the country.

These claims, according to the Ministry, are being used to pressure foreign governments, particularly the United States, to classify Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) due to violence against Christians.

While acknowledging the ongoing security challenges within the country, the Federal Government emphasized that these violent acts are not motivated by religious animosity or directed at any specific religious group.

The Ministry stressed that most incidents involving insurgency and banditry, particularly in northern Nigeria, a region predominantly Muslim, are not religiously targeted.

Any suggestion that these incidents are rooted in religious persecution, the Ministry clarified, is misleading and incorrect.

The Federal Government’s clarification was contained in a statement by the Acting Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, on Friday, March 14.

The statement reads in part: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to express strong concern over the recent wave of misinformation and misleading reports regarding the supposed targeted killings of Christians in Nigeria. The unfortunate development is intended to influence foreign governments, especially the United States Government, to designate Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), due to the violence against Christians.

“While the Federal Government acknowledges the security challenges confronting the nation, it is imperative to clarify that these negative activities are not driven by religious bias, nor targeted against any particular religious group. It should be noted that the majority of incidents relating to insurgency and banditry that occur in the predominantly Muslim northern part of Nigeria are not targeted at followers of a particular faith or religion. Any narrative that seeks to give such incidents a coloration of religious persecution is erroneous and misleading.

“Nigeria is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious nation and the government remains committed to protecting the lives and properties of all citizens, irrespective of faith, ethnicity, or gender. The security issues in Nigeria are complex and multifaceted and manifest as criminality, terrorism and communal clashes – including farmer/herder confrontation, that do not have any religious connotation.

“The government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has taken significant steps to address these security concerns, including the deployment of security forces, intelligence gathering and community engagement initiatives. Indeed, the military has recorded substantial gains in curtailing the activities of bandits and insurgents. To bring an end to such security challenges, both the Federal and State authorities have embarked on kinetic and non-kinetic methods and expedited the implementation of the national livestock plan.

“To this end, a Ministry of Livestock Development has been established while a Special Adviser and Coordinator of Livestock Reforms, has been appointed to find sustainable solutions to pastoral farming, with a view to end contestations over land, between farmers and pastoral herders.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, therefore, urges the international community to exercise caution and verify information before drawing conclusions or making statements that could exacerbate tensions within Nigeria.”
