The video from Tamale, Ghana, has ignited public outrage after it showed two young women involved in a brutal altercation over a man who was notably absent from the scene.

The viral footage circulating on various social media platforms depicts the women in a savage brawl, biting and striking each other while covered in blood.

Despite suffering visible injuries to their faces and bodies, the intense clash continued, with many netizens likening it to a fight between wild animals.

Eyewitnesses said the confrontation began as a heated argument over which of the two women had a legitimate claim to the man.

What started as a verbal exchange rapidly spiraled into a violent physical clash.

Efforts by onlookers to separate the pair proved futile until local authorities arrived to restore order.

A Vice Principal of a private secondary school in Akure, the Ondo State capital, has been attacked and brutally beaten by thugs allegedly hired by the mother of a student for preventing her child from cheating during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The Vice Principal, Rotifa, of Complete Child Development College, Aule, Akure, was assaulted after seizing an Android phone from an SS3 student, Wisdom Elisa, in the examination hall.

According to a teacher in the school, the Vice Principal is currently receiving treatment at St. John and Mary Hospital, Odokoyi, with other members of staff scared of facing similar attacks.

The teacher, who craved anonymity, appealed to the police and other security agencies to ensure their safety, particularly as the mother of the student has allegedly continued to make further threats.

She said, “The mother has threatened to kill him and any member of the school authority if her child is not allowed to cheat during the forthcoming mathematics examination, which is scheduled for next week.

“The Vice Principal is currently receiving treatment at St. John and Mary Hospital, Odokoyi. The name of the SS3 student who brought an Android phone to school during WASSCE is Wisdom Elisa.”

Meanwhile, the state government has vowed to take action over the development, stating that arrangements for the safety of the staff and students of the school during the remaining WASSCE papers are ongoing.

The Director of Schools, Ministry of Education in the state, in a statement, said:“On Thursday, the mother of the student came to the school to fight with the school management so much that the proprietor of the school ordered that the phone be returned to her, which was done.

“The brother of the student, who happens to be an old student of the school, later came to the school to harass the Vice Principal and threatened to deal with him.

“After school hours, the boys were seen loitering in the street, and the proprietor was informed, who told Mr. Rotifa to go to the police station to lodge a complaint. He went, and two policemen took him in their van to look for the boys, probably to arrest them. They couldn’t get them. As they were going back to the station, the boys waylaid the police van, stopped it, brought out Mr. Rotifa, and beat him up. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

“According to the principal of the school, he has been discharged from the hospital but did not go back to his house for fear of the boys coming back for him. Further investigations and efforts to get the culprits are in progress.”

The Federal Government has declared Friday June 6 and Monday June 9 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government. He congratulated all Muslim Ummah both at home and in the Diaspora on the occasion.

He called on the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

The Minister in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani, assured Nigerians, the people-oriented reforms and initiatives carried out, in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s Administration, is to restore Nigeria on the path of progress.

While wishing the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-ul- Adha celebration, the Minister urged all Nigerians to join hands with the present administration in its efforts to restore the glory of Nigeria as a great nation.

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has revealed how he holds himself partly responsible for the death of his first wife, Abiodun Kumuyi, attributing the loss to his absence from home on the day she passed.

Speaking during the Global Workers’ Conference at the Deeper Life International Conference Centre, Kumuyi recalled the painful experience of losing his wife while he was away ministering at a church retreat.

Abiodun died on April 11, 2009, at the age of 57, following a brief illness. The couple, who married on September 13, 1980, shared 28 years together and had two children: Jeremiah and John.

“I was preaching here on Saturday, 11th April 2009, and the devil worked on my absence. My wife was at home because she had a challenge. I was driving out, the devil came, but I did not remember to close the spiritual door that nobody will sneak into that place (his house) and when I finished the Faith Clinic that morning, I received a message that my beloveth wife was gone,” he said.

“I ran to IBTC (home); I saw it had happened and I met some people there; they were praying and the Lord assured me that I should let it go, let that go, don’t bother about it,” he added.

Despite the personal tragedy, the holiness preacher said he resolved not to dwell in sorrow but instead channel his pain into furthering his global evangelical efforts.

He described his next phase of ministry as a form of “revenge” against the devil, ensuring such a tragedy would never repeat itself in his life or household.

“I let it (his wife’s death) go, but from that day, I said ‘that one happened, this other one will no more happen,’” Kumuyi said.

“Since that time, for me to revenge on the devil, I have gone to many places since she left, I have covered most of the local governments in Nigeria, I have gone to almost all the nations of Africa, I have gone to all the continents of the world, blind eyes have opened, deaf ears have opened, the lame had risen up and walk and now I am getting to another level, the dead has now been raised and so I have come to tell you, those that have gone have gone, water under the bridge that has gone is gone, all that has gone has gone, now in your family you will be in charge.

“Anywhere I go, now I will be in charge. Nothing will be allowed to steal anything away,” he declared.

Kumuyi later remarried on October 13, 2010, in London.

 

 

A tragic incident occurred in Marenga, Bunyala West Ward, Budalang’i Constituency, Kenya, when a 28-year-old man identified as Emmanuel Makokha lost his life after collapsing and falling into an open grave during a burial ceremony.

Makokha, who served as a drummer (mpiga ngoma) during the burial, was actively participating in the proceedings when the incident happened.

In a widely circulated video, the young man is seen slipping and falling into the grave, hitting his head on the coffin of the deceased before landing inside.

Eyewitnesses and fellow mourners quickly rushed to his aid, pulling him out of the grave in a frantic attempt to save him. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards.

Confirming the incident, the area chief stated that the atmosphere turned chaotic following the sudden fall.

Makokha’s unexpected death cast a shadow over the funeral, turning a day of mourning into a double tragedy. Authorities are reportedly investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

His family, church members, and the local community have been left reeling from the loss, describing him as a lively and committed young man who was always present at community events.

An ex-corps member, Adetiba Blessing, has shared her candid experience of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, capturing the highs and lows of her journey.

 

Blessing narrated her story on a popular NYSC platform, recounting how she braved the challenges of camp with very limited resources.

 

She disclosed that she entered camp with just ₦10,500, having already spent on basic supplies and transport from her home state.

 

Despite the constraints, she actively participated in almost all camp activities, from social and sports engagements to entrepreneurial and kitchen tasks.

 

Blessing said she made meaningful connections with fellow corps members from diverse backgrounds, describing them as “the best people.”

 

However, she confessed that after the orientation camp, she faced severe difficulties, saying “after camp I saw shege, shege saw me, I was literally sheged.”

 

She attributed her perseverance and survival to the “grace of God,” which she said kept her strong throughout her service year.

 

Following her Passing-Out Parade (POP) in March 2025, Blessing decided to stay back in the state where she served, defying family pressure to return home.

 

In a bold move, she ventured into the curtain and bedspread business, securing a place to manage and design products, even though she had no prior experience.

 

Locals soon recognized her as a corps member, with one jokingly remarking, “a graduate sewing curtains,” a comment that sparked laughter.

 

Blessing expressed gratitude for discovering the business opportunity, although she wished she had found it earlier during her service year.

Her story concluded with a message of hope for others facing challenges, urging them to stay positive and embrace God’s blessings by remaining diligent and proactive.

 

She wrote, “PCMs,Ex Corp members (old takers),Gentlemen, Corp Members(new takers)..I Salute your courage because NYSC is not for the weak.

 

“I’ll like to share my NYSC story with you.
Going to camp I had almost nothing,my parents are the best that I know of,even in rainy days,they make sure their wards never lacks anything,but as the first child and daughter,I feel like I should be able to handle some things by myself..

 

“I entered camp with only 10500 Naira after getting few stuff for camp and spending on Transport from my state of origin… Thankfully I was posted within my Geopolitical zone.

 

“Getting to camp, I participated in almost all activities,social,sports, entrepreneural activities down to kitchen activities. I met different people and races(the best people).

 

“I’m thankful I engaged myself in camp because after camp I saw shege,shege saw me,I was literally sheged… But guess what the grace of God kept me going.

 

“Fast forward to March 2025. POP.
My parents and everyone wanted me to come home but guess what,I decided to stay back at the state I served with no friends,taking risks,not idle though…
Still enjoying the grace of God,I supernaturally got a place to manage where I sell and design curtains and bedspreads.

“On getting to the place, within a short period everyone already knew I was a corper,like how?.

 

“One jokingly said, “a graduate sewing curtains”,we all laughed about it but I honestly wished i had discovered the curtain and bedspread business before I finished NYSC. I’m not where I want to be yet but the most important thing is I’m moving,not stagnant.

An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) identified as Thompson, attached to Elemoro Police Station, Lagos, is under scrutiny for sending his bank account details to a man involved in an ongoing investigation.

According to SaharaReporters – the case involves a land dispute between Hon. Temitope Ogungbo, a local government official, and his brother, Israel Balogun.

Ogungbo had petitioned the police, prompting ASP Thompson to invite Israel for questioning.

After sending the official invitation via text, Thompson followed up with another message containing his bank account details:

“That is the invitation I sent to him. Whatever is his response, I will forward it to you. This is my account number 2068831510, Zenith Bank, Thompson.”

The message raised concerns of attempted bribery, a serious offense within the police force.

Israel accused Ogungbo, Supervisor for Education in Ibeju Lekki, of orchestrating a violent attack against him over their late father’s land. The assault left him hospitalized with stab wounds.

He alleged Temitope threatened to use force and boasted of control over police and political figures.

Despite the threats, Israel reported the case but was attacked again later that night.

Now recovering, Israel is calling for public support, fearing further harm and possible police bias.

The police have yet to comment on Thompson’s conduct or the case.

 

The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentence of
11 Filipinos, two Chinese, one Malaysian and one Indonesian to one year imprisonment each for cyber-terrorism and internet fraud before Justices Yellim Bogoro and A. O. Owoeye of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The convicts were arraigned on Friday, May 30, 2025, on separate charges bordering on possession of fraudulent documents.

The convicts are: Winnie De Jesus, Kayceelynn Remorin, Irish Chna, Darwisa Esmael, Kimberly Nisperos, Savien Cire Renovilla, Zeng Zerong and Guo Bin,
Others are: Jessa Sanchi, Jhena Sarmiento, Rain Torida, Rex Jose Dilag (aka Madison), Tan Soon Kar, Fernando Fu Fang and Beverlyin Gumayo (aka Veb Sumayo.)

One of the counts reads: “That you, WINNIE DE JESUS & GENTING INTERNATIONAL Co. LTD, sometime in December 2024, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, willfully caused to be accessed, computer systems organized to seriously destabilize and destroy the fundamental economic and social structure of Nigeria.

“When you procured/employed Nigerian youths for identity theft and to hold themselves out as persons of foreign nationality, with the intent to gain a financial advantage for yourselves and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 18 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015 (As amended 2024) and Section 2(3) (d) of the Terrorism (Prevention,
Prohibition) Act, 2022″.

Another count reads: “ That you, KAYCEELYN REMORIN and GENTING INTERNATIONAL CO. LIMITED, on or about the 18th of December 2024 in Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court willfully caused to be accessed, computer systems organised to seriously destabilise the economic and social structure of Nigeria (which prohibits and prevents cyber and related crimes) when you procured/employed Nigerian youths for identity theft and to hold themselves out as persons of foreign nationality, with the intent to gain financial advantage for yourselves and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 18 and 27 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015 (As Amended, 2024)”.

They all pleaded “guilty” to the charges preferred against them.

In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, N.K.Ukoha, T.J.Banjo and N.C. Mutfwang, respectively, requested that the defendants be convicted as charged.
The Judges, consequently, convicted and sentenced the defendants to one year imprisonment each, with a fine of N1,000,000.00( One Million Naira).

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, was ordered to ensure that the convicts are repatriated to their countries of origin within seven days upon completion of their sentences.

The Judges also ordered that the devices recovered from the convicts be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

 

 

A man identified as Adamu Muhammed Tenimu, on Friday reportedly fainted at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, Kogi State, after receiving the news that his wife had delivered a set of triplets.

The incident occurred shortly after the delivery.

Eyewitnesses said the man, upon hearing that his wife had given birth to three babies, all girls, was overwhelmed by emotion and slumped.

Hospital officials and sympathisers quickly came to his aid and successfully revived him.

The new mother and her triplets were said to be in stable condition.

Speaking to journalists shortly after regaining consciousness, Muhammed, a job seeker, expressed a mixture of joy and sadness, citing his inability to meet the financial responsibilities that now accompany the birth.

“I thank God for this miracle, but I am confused and sad. I didn’t know we were expecting triplets. Right now, we don’t even have the means and financial capacity to pay the hospital bills, let alone care for three babies at once,” he said, while shedding tears profusely.

According to him, the family had only struggled to prepare for one baby as the pregnancy had not been regularly scanned due to financial constraints.

“This blessing is huge, but so is the burden. I don’t even have money to buy diapers or baby food. I don’t know where to start,” he lamented.

Onlookers who confirmed the situation told Punch that while the birth was successful, the family was in urgent need of medical supplies, nutrition, and financial aid to support the care of the newborns.

“The babies are healthy, but this family needs help. We are calling on the government, NGOs, religious groups, and well-meaning Nigerians to support them,” a family member said.

Friends and well-wishers of the family have also begun a mobilisation drive, calling on citizens to assist in whatever capacity they can.

“We urge the Kogi State Government and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to intervene.

“The father is a law-abiding, hardworking man, and this situation deserves attention,” said Mr. Nuhu Alhassan, a colleague.

Calls have also gone out to philanthropic organisations and individuals to donate baby essentials, food supplies, and funds for hospital expenses.

“The joy of childbirth should not be overshadowed by fear of survival. We must stand together as a people and support this family,” Sikiru Olamide added.

The triplets, born weighing 1.8kg, 2.0kg, and 2.3kg, respectively, have been placed under observation at the hospital’s neonatal unit and are responding well.

At least 20 athletes from Kano Contingent have been confirmed dead following a ghastly motor accident at Dakatsalle Bridge in the Kura Local Government area of Kano State.

The athletes were said to be returning from from the just concluded National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Umar Fagge, who confirmed the incident, said many other athletes sustained various degree of injuries following the fatal accident on Saturday.

He explained that the bus conveying 30 athletes fell from the bridge, leading to the death of the 20 athletes.

“As I am talking to you now, we have counted 19 dead bodies,” Fagge said.

Similarly, Ado Salisu, a former Vice President of SWAN, said victims were still being conveyed to Kura General Hospital.

When contacted by Punch, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Sector Command, Abdullahi Labaran, also confirmed the accident.

He however said that he could not confirm the number of deaths and injured persons.

“We just received the report of the accident, so, I cannot confirm the exact number of casualties at the moment,” he added
