“Help Me Thank Tinubu – Suspended Rivers Governor Tells Nigerians

Embattled Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has called on his supporters, Rivers residents, and Nigerians to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely intervention that helped prevent the state from sliding into chaos amid its ongoing political crisis.

Speaking on Thursday at a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement, held to mark his two years in office, Fubara revealed that a peace and reconciliation process aimed at restoring all executive and legislative institutions in the state is already underway.

He assured that democracy and good governance would soon return to Rivers State, with the executive and legislative arms working together for the benefit of the people.

“I want to assure you that the issues will soon be resolved, and you will come back to your offices; not just at the Executive arm, but also the Legislative arm. I also believe that the strong relationships we had before will return, and we will begin to work together again for the good and progress of the State. What is important is for us to have a forgiving spirit,” Fubara said.

The suspended governor urged Rivers people to fully embrace the peace process and show unreserved appreciation to President Tinubu for his decisive action in stabilizing the state’s fragile political environment.

“We are already in the peace process. I want you to thank Mr President for his timely intervention to salvage the situation and stabilize the polity and the State. If not for Mr President, the story today would have been different,” he added.

Fubara praised the President’s wisdom and quick response, also acknowledging other national figures who appealed to Tinubu to intervene.

“I don’t know how he gets his information, but the truth is he acted with wisdom at the right time. He is the one you should thank. And let me also thank him personally for his intervention, and the personalities across the country who moved in and appealed to him to intervene.”

He called on all stakeholders to set aside personal interests for the greater good of Rivers State.

“We have to come down from our high horses and subject ourselves to the peace process. That is what we are doing. What is important is for the State to move forward. It is not about you; the interest of the State is paramount,” he stressed.

He lamented that due to the ongoing political crisis, planned celebrations marking his two-year milestone in office were overshadowed, denying the administration the chance to showcase achievements across various sectors.

Nonetheless, he assured that the government would return stronger and more united, delivering quality dividends of democracy.

Addressing those who have expressed anger or grievances, Fubara acknowledged their rights but urged everyone to embrace peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness for the state’s progress.

He also sought forgiveness from anyone who felt disappointed in his handling of the crisis, emphasizing that his actions were meant to protect the peace and development of the State.

Fubara expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for efforts in restoring peace and good governance, and revealed that reconciliation talks with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, were ongoing and hopeful.

“There is no reason why there will not be peace between me and my Oga,” he said, referring to Wike. “There will be peace. We are meeting. We will reconcile.”

Finally, the suspended governor thanked the people of Rivers State and Nigerians who supported him during the political turmoil, pledging to continue respecting the trust they placed in him.

“One important thing in this life is respect. I want to earn the respect of the people, not force it on them…I’m with you completely,” he said, and thanked Rivers people and all Nigerians who stood by him during the period of political turbulence, acknowledging their loyalty and prayers.”

  • Tailor Allegedly Burns 17-Yr-Old Customer With Hot Iron In Osun

Tailor Allegedly Burns 17-Yr-Old Customer With Hot Iron In Osun

A female tailor in Osun State, identified as Iya Abdullahi, allegedly attacked a teenage girl with a hot pressing iron for reportedly complaining about a dress the victim had given her to sew.

The assault occurred on Wednesday at the tailor’s shop in the Obelawo Area of Osogbo after the teenager (name withheld) reportedly visited the shop to return her wrongly made clothing.

Recounting her ordeal, the victim, who has been rushed to a private hospital for treatment, displayed the injuries she sustained from the hot iron on her body and sought justice.

She said she had taken a cloth to Iya Abdullahi to sew for her, and after discovering that the dress was too short for her to wear, she returned it.

“Instead of adjusting the dress, Iya Abdullahi started raining curses on me. I rebuked her, and she started flogging me with a stick. I struggled to dispossess her of the cane. Immediately, she went into her shop and took a hot pressing iron and used it to press my body in different places,” she lamented in pain,” the victim narrated.

Meanwhile, a non-governmental organization in the state, Value Female Network, has demanded justice for the 17-year-old survivor, wondering how “something that began as a minor dispute over a clothing issue escalated into a violent attack on the minor.”

In a detailed report of the incident made available to The Guardian in Osogbo and also forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for action, the Executive Director of VFN, Dr. Costly Aderibigbe-Saba, said, “The case further involves allegations of abuse of authority by the tailor’s husband, a police officer, who is reportedly trying to suppress the matter.

“The 17-year-old girl had given her cloth to a local tailor for sewing. Upon receiving the finished outfit, she found it too small and returned it for necessary adjustments. A minor disagreement followed this request. The tailor, rather than addressing the complaint, began laying curses on the girl.

“In an attempt to defend herself verbally, the girl responded, which further enraged the tailor. The tailor then physically assaulted the girl and went as far as using a hot pressing iron to burn multiple areas on her body, causing severe injuries.

“Following the brutal attack, the girl was rushed to Olorungbebe Medical Center, Zone B, Palace Road Community, Ido-Osun, Osun State, for urgent medical attention.

The tailor’s husband, a police officer, has reportedly intervened to suppress the case and prevent it from being reported or investigated properly. There are strong allegations that he is using his position and influence in the police force to shield his wife from justice.”

Aderibigbe-Saba explained the background of the alleged assault, saying that Aduke Obelawo, a prominent gender rights advocate, reported the matter to the organisation.

It was gathered that the matter has been reported to the command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.Nigerian home decor ideas

When contacted by the publication, Iya Abdullahi explained that the teenager had abused her first, stepped on the clothes she was selling, and that both of them got injured while dragging the hot pressing iron.

“She (survivor) brought a pair of trousers to me through a boy. She told the boy to tell me that the cloth belonged to the boy’s mother, a claim that was later found to be lies. Having realized that her lies were busted, she started abusing me,” she said.

“She came to my shop to scatter my clothes and even stepped on them. We started fighting, and she took the pressing iron, and I started struggling it with her; that was how she got the bruises, and I also got injured on my finger. Her mother brought Civil Defence officers, and my husband, who is a police officer, also intervened.”

Meanwhile, the NGO on Thursday revealed that the tailor had brought policemen from Dugbe Police Station in Osogbo to arrest and detain the victim’s mother.

She was said to be acting on the influence of her husband, who is a police officer in the state

Tinubu Endorses PDP Governor For Second Term

    ….

Arthur Eze, the Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has already endorsed Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for a second term.

Eze said this on Thursday during the second anniversary of Governor Mbah’s administration.

According to the businessman, Mbah is changing the face of the state without borrowing from any financial institution.

To buttress his claim about the governor’s performance in the past two years, Eze said President Tinubu has already endorsed Mbah for a second term.

He said, “God is a wonderful God. He brought Peter Mbah to change Igboland. Let me tell you, Tinubu has already endorsed him for second term. Tinubu endorsed him for second term because he has character. He is very honest, nobody will stop him.”

This comes days after the release of a State House documentary in which Eze described President Tinubu as “God’s gift to Nigeria.”

He added that the President “is not a man of division — whether Christian or Muslim, he respects all.”

According to him, Tinubu has been the fairest to the Igbos of all Nigerian presidents.

“What Tinubu has done for the South-East, nobody else has. He gave us the Minister of Works, the Minister of Science and Technology, and the South-East Development Commission. This is an opportunity for the Igbo to unite with the rest of Nigeria,” he said.

He added, “Tinubu has no enemies. He is a unifier. He speaks with humility and honesty; that’s why we admire him.”
