Two teenage girls have been reported missing, leaving their family in deep distress.

According to a Facebook post by Abdulraheem Abdulrahman, credited to the family, the girls disappeared from their last known location on Afolabi Alasia Street, Ijora Badia, Apapa Iganmu, Lagos.

The family is overwhelmed with grief,
describing the situation as unbearable.

They’ve also called on the community to join them in prayer and support as they navigate this ordeal.

The Statement reads, “Eyes are full, hearts are heavy, and words are scarce as we search for our two precious daughters who have gone missing. The thought of living without them, even for a moment, is unbearable.

“We are consumed by fear, anxiety, and uncertainty, but we refuse to give up hope. We hold onto the memories of their bright smiles, their infectious laughter, and their unwavering love.

“As Muslims, we find comfort in our faith, and we pray that Allah SWT guides us through this difficult time. We pray for the safe return of our daughters, and we ask for your prayers and support.

“Please, if anyone has any information about the whereabouts of our beloved daughters, come forward and help us bring them home. We are desperate to be reunited with them, and we will not rest until they are back in our arms.

“May Allah SWT reunite us with our daughters soon, and may He give us the strength to endure this difficult trial. Ameen.”

A heated exchange unfolded among members of the House of Representatives during Wednesday’s plenary session, sparked by President Bola Tinubu’s recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

A video of the incident, shared online by AIT News, on Wednesday, March 19, captures the intense argument as lawmakers debated the implications of the President’s decision, which was made public in a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday night.

Under the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, the National Assembly is required to review the President’s emergency proclamation within 48 hours if in session, or within 10 days if in recess.

Should the legislature find the declaration contentious, they have the power to reject it through a vote.

A two-thirds majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives is needed to either uphold or invalidate the state of emergency.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State for an initial period of six months.

Tinubu said: “In the circumstance, having soberly reflected on and evaluated the political situation in Rivers State and the Governor and Deputy Governor of Rivers State having failed to make a request to me as President to issue this proclamation as required by section 305(5) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, it has become inevitably compelling for me to invoke the provision of section 305 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State with effect from today, 18th March, 2025 and I so do.

“By this declaration, the Governor of Rivers State, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Mrs Ngozi Odu and all elected members of the House of Assembly of Rivers State are hereby suspended for an initial period of six months.

“In the meantime, I hereby nominate Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as Administrator to take charge of the affairs of the state in the interest of the good people of Rivers State. For the avoidance of doubt, this declaration does not affect the judicial arm of Rivers State, which shall continue to function in accordance with their constitutional mandate.”

The Nigerian Army is currently moving toward the Rivers State Government House to enforce President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency.

Under the directive, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, state assembly members, and other government appointees are set to step aside for six months.

On Tuesday, Tinubu announced the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly, citing the escalating political crisis in the state.

As part of the emergency measures, the president appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd) as the Administrator to take charge of Rivers State during this period.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has listed Nigeria among eight countries at risk of depleting their HIV treatment supplies in the coming months.

According to WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus, the disruption stems from the Trump administration’s decision to pause U.S. foreign aid, which has significantly impacted the availability of HIV treatments in affected countries.

Others on the list include Haiti, Kenya, Lesotho, South Sudan, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Ukraine. Ghebreyesus warned that the setback could erase two decades of progress in the fight against HIV, potentially leading to over 10 million new cases and three million HIV-related deaths.

The aid suspension, enforced by President Donald Trump since taking office in January, has also hampered efforts to combat polio, malaria, and tuberculosis.

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land of the Peoples Democratic Party’s national secretariat, which is situated in Abuja.

Wike issued the revocation notice in a letter dated March 13, 2025, titled, “Notice of right of occupancy with file no: MISC 81346 in respect of plot no: 243 within central area district, Abuja,” on Tuesday.

It was signed by the Director, Land Administration (FTC), Chijioke Nwankwoeze.

According to him, the opposition party has failed to pay the annual ground rents due on the property for twenty (20) years, from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025, despite many publications in several national dailies and electronic media to pay up every outstanding bill and ground rent on its property.

The letter read, “I have been directed to refer to the above Right of Occupancy granted to PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP), NATIONAL SECRETARIAT and inform you that the Minister of Federal Capital Territory has in the exercise of powers conferred on him under the Land Use Act No. 6 of 1978, Cap. L5, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, revoked your rights, interests and privileges over Plot No. 243 within Central Area, Cadastral Zone A00, Abuja.

“The revocation is in view of your continued contravention of the terms and conditions of grant of the Right of Occupancy by failing to pay the annual ground rents due on the property for twenty (20) years, from Ist of January 2006 to 1st of January 2025. This is despite the many publications made by the FCT Administration since 2023 in several national dailies and on electronic media requesting all allottees of plots in the Federal Capital Territory to pay up every outstanding bill and ground rent on their property.

“You would please note that the said breaches by PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP), NATIONAL SECRETARIAT (MISC 81346) run contrary to the provisions of Section 28, Subsection 5 (a) and (b) of the Land Use Act.

The minister added that the FCTA administration he led will henceforth take immediate possession of the party secretariat until all bills are settled.

Former senator representing Bayelsa East under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ben Murray-Bruce, has called on Nigerians to refrain from condemning leaders over bad governance.

He spoke on Sunday at the Silverbird ‘Man of the Year 2024’ award ceremony, where Governor Biodun Oyebanji was honoured.

Murray-Bruce said: “Those of you on social media, those of you who are all over the world, stop criticising Nigeria; stop criticising our leaders. Okay, we need a break. Stop criticising us. We need a break.

“Alright, that’s all we request. Give us a break. We’re a young human team…we make mistakes, but stop insulting our leaders and stop criticising us.”

The leadership of the House of Representatives has made a significant contribution to President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to support vulnerable Nigerians, presenting a cheque of N705 million to the president on Monday.

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas led a delegation from the House to Aso Rock for an iftar with President Tinubu, where the cheque was handed over.

The event was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima and Femi Gbajabiamila, the president’s Chief of Staff.

The generous donation follows a resolution passed by the House in July 2024, in which members agreed to cut their salaries by 50 percent for six months.

This decision was made in response to the severe economic hardship facing the nation. The motion, which led to this resolution, was introduced by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

The donation was made known via a video shared by the President’s Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, on Monday, March 17.

The caption reads: “Members of the House of Representatives led by the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas have donated N705 Million naira to vulnerable Nigerians. This is in fulfilment of the promise they made to donate half of their salaries to the vulnerable during the time of pillatives. The cheque was presented to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Iftar with House of Representatives members at the State house.”

Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, has accused former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, of demolishing his cement plant twice during his tenure.

The meeting, which was centered around expanding investment opportunities in the state’s manufacturing, oil and gas, and energy sectors, provided a platform for the industrialist to voice his grievances.

According to a statement issued by the Ogun State Government, the discussions also aimed at fostering stronger economic growth and business development within the state.

However, in a video that surfaced on social media, Dangote alleged that the administration of former Governor Amosun had twice destroyed his cement factory while it was still under construction.

He said: “I deem it fit to have it on record that the factory we are visiting now in Itori, it’s because of his excellency that we came back. That factory was demolished twice.

“We started building, then Amosun demolished it, the second time, we started again, he demolished not only the factory, including the fencing, so we left. But right now, we’re coming back because of his excellency, my brother, Prince Dapo Abiodun, we’re now back. When we go there you’ll be very surprised.”
