Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has described President Bola Tinubu as a prophet whose forecast is beginning to unfold, especially with the ongoing price competition between Dangote Refinery and NNPCL.

According to Omokri, Tinubu removed fuel subsidies and predicted that prices would rise initially before gradually decreasing, but many Nigerians criticised him.

However, nearly twenty months later, his prophecy is beginning to unfold.

Omokri said this in a statement he shared via his X handle on Wednesday, March 5.

The statement reads: “When President Tinubu removed fuel subsidies and said prices would initially rise and gradually fall, many Nigerians insulted him. Twenty months later, what he said has prophetically started manifesting in reality with the Dangote Refinery-NNPCL price war. Nigerians can expect more petrol price reductions.

“As the President explained when he courageously removed fuel subsidies, competition among sellers results in celebrations for buyers.

“Under President Tinubu, we have had the first Christmas and Ramadan in Nigeria’s history when food and fuel prices were simultaneously reduced, and neither commodity was scarce. Inflation has reduced from close to 40% to 24.48% in February.

“In the past, the reverse was the case. We had fuel queues, food shortages, and higher prices during these festivities.

“This is one of the fringe benefits of having a First-Class accountancy graduate as your president. If the second-class lower philosophy graduate had been President, it is unlikely that these price reductions would have occurred.”

Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, has condemned the actions of Kogi lawmaker, Natasha Akpoti, who rejected her sitting arrangements, on February 20.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, after the altercation filed a defamation lawsuit against Akpabio, seeking N100 billion in damages.

On Friday, Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Senate President Akpabio of defaming and penalising her after she rejected his sexual advances.

She was referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions.

Upon resumption of the hearing, Adaramodu condemned Natasha’s reaction to the seating arrangement.

Adaramodu stated that the chambers has a rule of conduct guiding it as decency is always required in the house.

He said: “We have our standing orders in our internal constitutions, because we are empowered by the various sections of the constitution that is the National Assembly to make our own rules that will guide us. It says we are not barbarians. It says we are not in an animal farm. Because even an animal farm there is a room for decency and decorum. The standing order clearly stated how, when, where, why a Senator would behave in the chambers and even outside the chambers too.”

Gospel Singer Ebuka Emmanuel Hillary, known as Ebuka Songs, has opened up about his exit from his former record label, Spotlite Nation, owned by Gospel music sensation, Moses Bliss.

In December 2024, Bliss noted that Ebuka terminated his three-year contracts after about 11 months when he came claiming he had divine instructions to leave.

The ‘Bigger Everyday’ crooner said he’s still rooting for Ebuka, stating he prayed about Ebuka’s exit before approving it and holds no grudge against him.

In a recent interview on Open Up podcast, Ebuka expressed disappointment over some of the statements made by Moses but chose not to elaborate.

He emphasised that the two parties have come to a mutual understanding and compromise.

He revealed that he left the music label to concentrate on his own ministry.

He said: “I will always be grateful for the role Moses Bliss played in my life because as at that time, I had the anointing and gift but didn’t know all of these things professionally.

“So there was a lot that I learned and the platform opened me to a lot of things that I know right now and that are working for me now.

“I’m grateful for the journey that I’ve been through here but at this point now, this is a next level for me to focus on my ministry. And we are on our good space.

“I have a reason why I haven’t said anything since that time. I didn’t want to bring more conversations around that thing, so I just kept quiet about it.

“We all get to the point where we just want to be focused on the next phase of our lives, and because of the assignment of God upon my life.

“When I saw the interview, I was a bit sad about some of the things that were said there. If I begin to pick points on some of the things that were mentioned, it’s not really necessary.

“I’m not really happy with the way a lot of things went, but at this point there is really nothing that I can do.

“We both came to a compromise about everything that happened, and God is glorified. He’s doing his ministry, doing well and I’m doing whatever God is asking me to do, I’m doing well and I’m excited.

“He’s happy, I’m happy, we’re good.”

Supporters of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and members of civil society groups gathered at the National Assembly on Wednesday, calling for Senate President Godswill Akpabio to step down pending an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment made against him.

The protesters arrived at the National Assembly gate as early as 8:00 am, few hours before the resumption of plenary.

Carrying banners with inscriptions such as ‘Akpabio Must Go’, and ‘Protect Women’s Rights’, the demonstrators demanded accountability and urged the Senate to investigate Akpabio over the serious accusations.

The protest comes days after Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of harassment and claimed he had targeted her after she refused his sexual advances.

The explosive allegation was made during a live television interview, escalating tensions within the Senate.

The controversy began after a seating arrangement change on February 20, 2025, which Akpoti-Uduaghan described as retaliation for rejecting Akpabio’s alleged advances.

A spokesperson for the protesting groups said their objective is to ensure a transparent and unbiased investigation.

“We are here to demand justice for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and to hold those in power accountable. No one is above the law,” the spokesperson said.

As of press time, there has been no official response from Akpabio or the Senate leadership regarding the protesters’ demands.

The demonstration remained peaceful, with security operatives closely monitoring the situation.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has denied allegations of sexual harassment levelled against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. While speaking during the Senate Plenary session this morning March 5, Akpabio dismissed the allegation.

“At no time did I ever harass any woman. I was raised very well by my late single mother, and I have always upheld respect for women. I was even awarded the most gender-friendly governor in Nigeria.”

The former Akwa Ibom state governor said he had been inundated with calls on the matter since February 25, and that he was aware of the growing social media discourse. He urged Nigerians, the media, and social media users to refrain from drawing conclusions and instead await the court’s decision on the matter.

The new head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has released his first-ever provisional squad.

Chelle has called up 35 players ahead of this month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

The Rivers State Government has reacted to the 48-hour ultimatum issued to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to re-present the 2025 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.

In its response, the government stated that it would not comply with the ultimatum as it had not yet received an official letter conveying the summon.

The House of Assembly had on Monday during its plenary given Fubara 48 hours to bring the appropriation bill following the Supreme Court judgement.

The House immediately communicated its decision to the governor in a letter dated March 3rd and signed by Amaewhule.

The ultimatum expired today, Wednesday.

Fubara inaugurates fire service station in Rivers
But the state government in a letter addressed to the Right Honourable Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly dated March 5th said it had not received the said resolutions of the Assembly.

The government in the letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo, said its response was based on a letter it came across on the social media.

The government said: “As at the close of work on Tuesday, 4th March, 2025, we are yet to receive the said letter. Neither the office of the governor nor the deputy governor’s office, nor the office of the Accountant-General of the state has received the the said letter”.

The government told the House that the governor had in his state broadcast on March 2nd said notwithstanding his personal opinion on the Supreme Court judgement he would as a law-abiding citizen obey and implement the decisions in accordance with the rule of law and in the best interest of the people of Rivers State.

The letter added: “We have since been in contact with our lawyers, who are still awaiting the certified true copy of the judgement of the Supreme Court and hereby reassure you and all the good people of Rivers State that as soon as his Excellency receives the judgement, he will strive to implement same in the best interest of our people”.

The Nigeria Police Force has promised to launch an investigation into an alleged police extortion incident reported by an X user on Monday, March 03.

The X user, #TenmanNoble1, had reported that he was allegedly extorted by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command while on his way to catch his 7.30 am flight at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, and the State capital.

He revealed how he was tagged a ‘yahoo boy’ and detained after the officers allegedly checked the pad on his phone and found a love letter he had written to his girlfriend many years ago.

According to the victim, the said officers were only willing to release him after asking him to withdraw N260,000 from a nearby Point of Sale (POS) machine.

Reacting to the allegations, the Complaint and Response Unit (CRU) of the Nigeria Police Force disclosed that they were waiting for the victim to reply to a direct message they sent to him so as to help them commence investigations.

The Police CRU wrote: “Dear #TenmanNoble1, kindly check your DM and provide required response so as to commence investigation, thank you.”

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation.

The appointment of Ogunjimi will take effect from Monday, March 7, the same day the incumbent Oluwatoyin Madehin will retire.

Last year December, Ogunjimi was first named as Madehin’s successor.

A selection committee after a written assessment, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews, chose him as the right candidate.

This was made known via a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, February 04.

The statement reads: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation after a rigorous selection process.

“His appointment, approved today, takes effect from 7th March 2025, the same day the incumbent Oluwatoyin Madehin will retire.

“Ogunjimi, 57, was first named as Madehin’s successor last December.

“A selection committee later chose him through a competitive, rigorous, and merit-based process involving Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service. The committee conducted the process through three stages: a written assessment, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews.

“The selection process underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to promoting transparency, excellence, and competence in key public service positions.

“Ogunjimi graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. He also obtained a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos.

“He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

“President Tinubu congratulates Ogunjimi on his appointment and urges him to discharge his duties in the service of Nigeria with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to Nigeria’s service.”

Florence Ita-Giwa, a former presidential adviser and ex-senator, has faulted Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations of sexual harassment, claiming that women cannot be harassed once they join the Senate.

In a live interview with Arise TV on Tuesday, March 4, Ita-Giwa said it was ‘a sign of weakness’ for female senators to claim sexual harassment after attaining such a high political office.

Akpoti-Uduaghan had last week alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio blocked her attempts to introduce motions on the Ajaokuta Steel Company in Kogi State because she refused to grant him sexual favours.

The former lawmaker stated that women in the Senate should be empowered and confident enough to avoid such situations.

Ita-Giwa said: “By the time you contest elections and get to Senate, you have passed that stage of your life of being sexually harassed. You go there to serve, and you are all equal in that place.

“And again, it shows weakness; you don’t allow it. It (sexual harassment) can not happen in the Senate.

“I am not saying the lady is lying, but when you get to the Senate, you’re there as a person. You’re not there as a woman.

“At that stage in politics, if you come out and say someone is sexually harassing you, it is a weakness.”
